About the Committee
Our Roles & Responsibilities

The UN Decade Ocean Committee Ireland is a new informal network aimed to provide a platform for shared-island researchers to enhance their interdisciplinary collaborative efforts at a national and international level and promote their scientific activities linked to the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development in Ireland.

Our primary role is to serve as a central hub which links and engages national level actors participating in the Ocean Decade. Unlike the more formal governance and coordination structures of the Ocean Decade, our Committee is voluntary in nature. The following are some of the expected roles and responsibilities that our Committee fulfils.
